EMBARQ / WRI

Armed with a new logo and extensive expertise in sustainable transportation planning, EMBARQ (a division of the World Resources Institute) sought out Communication Visual to create a suite of collateral that would increase the organization's profile and reach among potential partners and donors. At the core, the pieces--an outcomes report, brochure, proposal binder, and project report--seek to clarify and highlight EMBARQ's accomplishments so that they are easily understood and appreciated by diverse audiences, from engineers to politicians.

Inspired by the colorful new logos of EMBARQ's worldwide Transport Centers, ComVis developed a visual library heavy on concise infographics, modern type, large photos from EMBARQ's broad library, and bright colors to distinguish geographic areas. ComVis also worked with EMBARQ to develop the content, providing an outsider's eye and reducing technical jargon and concepts.

The outcomes report, which ComVis named Forward Progress, summarizes a range of projects around the world, describing existing challenges and EMBARQ's approach, solutions, and results. The brochure serves as a very condensed version of the report, easy for planners and other EMBARQ promoters to carry on overseas trips. The binder, made of 100-percent recycled material--is highly customizable, with interchangeable cards--that are also easy to reprint and update as needed--tailored to specific meeting and proposal requirements.

The project reports explore in depth the particulars of individual transportation projects. While ComVis designed the first one, Delhi, in full, we also developed a template to allow EMBARQ communications staff to quickly and easily create other reports in-house.

ComVis also worked with EMBARQ to update the logo for their "Active Cities, Healthy Cities" contest, a biannual program in Latin America that promotes recreation, physical activity, and civic culture in urban public spaces.
